The following replacement parts are available for ShinMaywa Norus Pumps, though the repair work takes a degree of expertise.   

How to Know which Parts to Replace

• If your direct drive pump trips your outdoor GFI but does not make noise and runs fine when plugged into a non-GFI outlet, you probably need a rebuild kit. Your pump probably just needs fresh oil, gaskets, and O-rings.
• If your direct drive pump whirs or hesitates, but will start when you manually spin the impeller, your pump probably needs a capacitor.
• If your direct drive pump makes a grinding sound, it probably needs new bearings.
• If the shaft on your direct drive pump is stuck and doesn't move at all, you probably need a new pump.

Rebuild Kits
By request, we have put together rebuild kits containing the mechanical shaft seal, oil chamber upper & lower O-rings, oil gasket, and 12oz of oil. Please be advised that you can often reuse the current gaskets, and in that case all that you really need to rebuild a ShinMaywa pump is the mechanical shaft seal and oil.  

ALSO BY REQUEST, Practical Garden Ponds has a special arrangement available for customers who want their pump rebuilt but who do not feel able to do so themselves.   If a customer is willing to package their pump well in a shipping box no larger than 12 x 12 x 25" and no more than 30 pounds (dimensions of the box rounded UP to the nearest whole number of inches and whole pounds must be provided), we can provide a pre-paid UPS shipping label by which your pump will be sent in for a FACTORY REBUILD.   The price includes all listed parts and shipping both ways.  There is no additional labor charge however, please note that any risk of damage to your pump in shipping and any risk that your pump is not reparable with a normal rebuild, is yours.   The only guarantee we provide is that if your pump cannot be repaired for any reason, Practical Garden Ponds will credit the pre-paid cost of the rebuild off the price of a new replacement pump of the same model.   Unrepairable pumps and pumps requiring more cost than the customer is willing to pay, will not be returned.  Instead we will provide a discounted offer to replace the pump as per our only guarantee.   Please note the two rebuild options; 1. A standard rebuild that includes a mechanical seal, oil gasket, upper and lower O-rings and turbine oil.  2. Full rebuild includes an upper and lower bearing set as well as a mechanical seal, oil gasket, upper and lower O-rings and turbine oil.   

Please note that it would be smart to have a conversation with one of our sales people before ordering a pump rebuild.  We have insights that might prevent wasted money ... for example, if water has reached the top of your pumps internals, it may be wiser not to rebuild the pump.   Ask us for alternatives.
