The EazyPod™ Automatic filtration systems are all-new, self-cleaning filters that boast not only mechanical and biological filtration but also automatic, no-effort cleaning. The EazyPod™ uses K1 Micro to provide biological filtration even when using the EazyPod™ solely as a mechanical waste filter.
How does the Eazypod Automatic work? Water from the pond enters the EazyPod™ via the inlet, flows around the optional 18 Watt UV Clarifier (included in the EazyPod™ UV Automatic), then flows around the circumference of the outer chamber, passing through the stainless steel grill causing many larger solids to be filtered out and settle in the base of the outer chamber. As water enters the central chamber, finer solids become trapped in the mass of K1 Micro media. Bio-films build up on the protected surface of K1 Micro media, allowing biological filtration to take place. The now-clean water rises and overflows into the inner return pipe and flows back into the pond via the outlet.
Okay, and what about the automatic cleaning feature? The EazyPod™ Automatic includes an integrated control box with an adjustable timer that you use to plan the cleaning time — so it can clean while you're not even there! The default cleaning time is every 3 days, but it can be adjusted. The electronic controller powers the automated waste valve and the included air pump that cleans the K1 Micro media. The air pump agitates the filter media to free up debris and waste that has built up within the filter, which is then ejected from the 1.5" waste valve.
