We sell two types of Carnivorous plants Sarracenia "Pitcher Plants" and Drosera "Sun Dew"
Sarracenia, or pitcher plant, is a cold-hardy perennial east coast native of North America. They can be found from Florida through the New England states in the North. They appreciate a very sunny location. In fall, plants will stop growing and go dormant. Sarracenia can withstand a 20°F freeze with minimal protection. Look for new growth in spring.
Drosera, Sundews feature dew-like tentacles that attract and ensnare flying insects. A fully grown Drosera tracyi is truly impressive. When conditions are right, it forms a dense clump. It has a strong appetite for flies of all sizes. In winter, the leaves die back, and the plant develops a resting bud at the soil level. Growth will begin again in the warmth of spring.
