These Max-E-Therm Heater uses a specially made Cupra Nickel exchanger, and are safe for use within Koi ponds. NOTE: Typical Sta-Rite pool heaters use a copper exchanger that is not safe for fish. So this model is more expensive than pool heaters, but is actually safe for use in a fish pond. In addition, this unique design prevents rusted burners, which are common in some heaters.
